ECU Programming & Cloning in Toronto
When an engine computer, transmission module or body control module fails, a straight swap usually will not start or run properly. DashLabz clones and programs ECUs, TCUs and BCMs so a replacement module works with your vehicle’s keys, immobilizer and other modules, often without dealer-only tools or long waits.
ECU, TCU and BCM cloning
Cloning copies the data from your original module, including immobilizer and coding data, onto a replacement unit. The replacement behaves like the original, so there is usually no need to reprogram keys or recode other modules.
Common reasons for cloning
- Water damage, corrosion or internal failure in the original module
- A used replacement module from another vehicle
- No-start or no-communication faults after a module failure
- Transmission shifting problems caused by a failing TCU
ECU programming and replacement setup
When cloning is not possible, we program and adapt a new or used module to your vehicle: VIN programming, immobilizer matching, coding and the adaptations needed for the car to start and run correctly.
Vehicles we work on
We work on BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Audi, Volkswagen and Mini, as well as many domestic and Asian makes. Send us your VIN and the module part number and we will confirm what is possible before you come in.
How it works
- Call or message us with your year, make, model, VIN and module part number.
- Bring in the vehicle, or the original and replacement modules.
- We read, clone or program the module and test it on the vehicle where needed.

Frequently asked questions
Can you clone a used ECU from another car?
In many cases, yes. The replacement must be a compatible part number for your vehicle. Send us both part numbers and we will confirm.
Will I need new keys after an ECU replacement?
Not usually when the module is cloned, because the immobilizer data is copied across. If cloning is not possible, we can match your existing keys to the new module.
Can you work with just the module?
Yes, many cloning jobs can be done on the bench with the original and replacement modules.
